The Voyager 3 habitation ship is a large cone-shaped spacecraft designed with the pourpose of making Mars a habital place. It has mutiple floors and the inteior is similar to the international space station. The ship had nuclear powered engines that allowed it to boost through space a little slower than the speed of light. Sadly taking 50 people into space all at once made some people go crazy. Some wanted to go back to Earth, others wanted to be as far away from Earth as possible. On mission day 6, a riot had begun in the ship canteen. Rioters used makeshift weapons to make their way to the cockpit were you are a piliot. Thankfully you were on break for lunch when this started so you are left with a choice.
[[ Join rioters ]]
[[ Hide in the lower levels of the ship ]]
You swear you heard that the rioters wanted to go back to Earth, so you make your way to the hatch marked,"Navigation And Piloting". While fiddiling with the hatch you realise the engines are making louder noises then they should, it sounds like a malfunction.
[[ Check the engine room ]]
[[ Countine with the navigation room]]
You stop trying to get the hatch open andd work your way to the engine room. As you move closer the engine to the Voyager gets louder and louder, and on the walls signs of a struggle appear. In some areas scraches are visible on the walls and in others blood can be seen smeared across the wall.
You dont take too long too look though because the noises from the engine make the whole ship rattle. You finally arrive at your destantion, the engine room you are able to open the hatch with ease this time, this is odd because the parts of the ship the problem are sealed off until the mechanic fixes the problem and deems it safe. There is an electronic calendar built into the wall, it reads 7/8/59. This dosen't make sense becuase this means the riot was 2 months ago. Were you really unconcious for that long? Upon further inspection the hatch looks to be pryed open with a make-shift crowbar. When you enter, the engine has a computer like device strapped to the side of it. You inspect it and discover that the device locks the engines from any adjustments made by the piliot. This device overloads the engines casuing temporary boosts of dangerouly high energy. You rip the device off the engines and discover that they were about to explode. You can now use the navigation systems on the ship.
[[ Put on a spacesuit and survey the outside ship ]]
[[ Head stright to navigation ]]
You finally open the hatch on the navigation room, inside there are many diffrent buttons and dials, all of which have been moved scince the first time you saw them. The ships electronic calender reads 7/8/59. You realise that you were unconisious for 3 months. You are initally in shock, but suddenly the ship makes a loud screech and a loud explosion follows. On the ships electronic internal map the engine room has been filled in with red reading, "unexpected explosion due to power overload". The explosion damages the emergency seal in the room casuing the ship to automatically seal off the entire middle floor.
[[ Keep checking navigation reports ]]
[[ Try and find a way to the exploded engine room ]]
You exit from the mantience hatch in the engine and preform a space walk. The sun is very big in the sky and the surface of Mercury is clearly visible. You come to the conclusion that during the riot the rioters put the device on the engines so it would be locked heading towards Earth. They obvisoly overshot and so the Voyager headed for the inner solar system. But now is not the time for thinking and you have to keep surveying the ship. You discover that the comms antenna was damged, but were able to repair it. By your calculations you were able to determine that the voyager was going to enter Mercury's orbit on about 2 hours that gives you enough time to get back to the cockpit and steer The Voyager away from Mercury.
[[ Head to the cockpit ]]
You go immediatly to the cockpit and quickly begin search through the navigation logs and discover that you have roughly 2:00 before the ship collides with Mercury. Mercury, no that cant be right, then you check the movent of the ship over the past few hours. Apparently during the riot prople breached the cockpit and pointed the ship towards Earth. But weren't there people on Earth monitering the Voyager? You try to contact them using comms but it dosen't work.
[[ Try to make last minute repairs ]]
[[ Try to steer your self out of Mercury's orbit ]]
Despite everything you still want to know where the ship is headed. You check navigation reports and discover that the ship is in the inner solar system but far away from Earth. In fact it looks like whoever was piloting had intended to go to earth but over shot by a tiny margin. Shurely someone was down there tracking the Voyager, there had to be. You try to contact mission control but the radio is dead. The source of the problem comes from outside as the antenna appers to have been blown off.
[[ Get a space suit on and repair the radio reciver ]]
The lockdown effect on the middle of the ship makes a 10 minute trip to the engine room more like a 4 hour trip. But after a long day of prying sealed doors open you finally make it. Youre exausted for one thing but you push that out of your mind and head into the engine room. There is a giant hole in the wall where the engine used to be and sharp metal objects float around hap-hazardly. By looking out of the hole you see that the Voyager is spinning out of control. Everytime the ship makes a full spin the surface of the planet Mercury is visible. You come to the conclusion that the rioters must have pointed the ship towards Earth but overshot and headed into the inner solar system. You make quick calculations and are able to determine that you have about 30 minutes before you enter Mercury's atmosphere.
[[ Head for escape pods ]]
You put your space suit on and head outside of The Voyager. The Sun is massive in the sky and the surface of the planet Mercury is clearly visible by your calculations the ship should enter the atmosphere in about 30 miutes. You exit the outside of the space ship and make a last ditch effort to get to the escape pods. Because the middle of the ship is sealed shut due to the engine explosion you cant reach the escape pods. The ships dining hall becomes your grave as the ship explodes when it enters the atmosphere.
The ship had many escape pods used for landing on Mars if there was an emergeny mid orbit. These pods were located on middle floor not far away where you are, you take 20 minutes getting there and quickly eject the capsule as fast as humanly possible while ejecting you get a good view of the ship entering the atmosphere, glowing red hot, and finally exploding. You also get a good view of the massive sun in the Mercutian sky, your suit visor protects your eyes from the sunlight. Your capusle suddenly turns red as it enters the atmosphere as well. But eventually you get through the atmosphere and see the scortced earth underneath you. The stone covering the surface is sharp and boiling hot. The sun is massive in the sky and you can see it slowly moving across the horizon. The flaming wreck that was once the Voyager accelarates past you and crashes into the surface. You activate the parachutes on your capsule and glide to the ground. This takes an extremely long time as the gravity is low. It takes about two hours for you to finally get snagged on a giant piece of black rock. You are extremely tired and hungry so you eat the emergeny rations provided by the pod. Thankfully the pod has an emergency broadcast beacon and you can send one message to either Earth or The Voyager. You pick Earth because messaging the voyager wont be any good. In the message you talk about what happend to the ship and where you are now. But with your message over you realise there is no way out of this mess.
At night time when it is very cold you go to crash site and discover that the rest of the crew had simply ejected their pods while close to Earth while you were hiding. Well your screwed no one can save you now. You slowly succum to hunger and de-hydration and finally take the escape pods suicide pills. You become the first person to die on another planet.
Well the upper levels seem okay so you decide to look around down here in storage. All you find is a soup can, a tool box and some string. It looks like all the other astronauts stuff has been taken from their lockers, in fact all the stuff had been taken from your locker as well. You then search the rest of the lower floor only to find that all but one of the escape pods had lauched. You cant tell if there was a mass evacuation what but there definetly wasn't anyone still on board.
[[ Check the upper levels ]]
Altneratively, you could do a space walk and check for damage outside the ship.
[[ Space walk ]]
You arrive in the cockpit and use your basic piliot traing to sucessfully steer The Voyager away from Mercury. With the radio repaired N.A.S.A contacts you and gives you instrutions on how to escape Mercurys orbit and do so sucessfully. You make the long trip back to earth and keep up with repairs all around the ship. There are no other people on board The Voyager because they all escaped in escape pods while they were close to Earth. You park The Voyager in orbit around Earth and use the last escape pod to land. You become a celebrity overnight for the acts of bravery that you had accomplished. Apparently when everything went down N.A.S.A could still see you through the video cameras on the ship. You had the entireity of planet Earth rooting for you and you didnt know it. You arrive back to Earth and are able to tell children and your grand-children all about your adventures in space.
But, you always wonder what could have happened had you done something else.
You march up to the top of your ship in your bulky space suit and begin making repairs on the comms. While making repairs so spot something moving out of the corner of your eye. You pass it off as nothing and countinue working in the bright sunlight. Then the object moves closer at an alarimg and you turn your head to look at it and *bam* your hit with a lump of space rock. It didn't affect you nessarily but it cut your teather in half and launched you out into space. You dont know what do, the ship just gradually floats away into the horizon never to be seen again. You get a great view of Mercury and the Sun up here but sadly these sights are the last ones you ever see. You eventually plummet into Mercurys atmosphere burning up as you go.
No turning back now, you push the joy stick forward as far as you can trying to escape orbit. The Voyager sadly wasn't really built for escaping orbit without other help and quickly runs out of fuel. You have however given your self 5:00 hours until you crash. You go up to the top of the Voyager and repair the radio.
You get messages from your family telling them how much they love you and from fellow astronauts giving apologies for putting you in this situation. They tell you that they overshot Earth but managed to get to it by shooting the escape pods when the Voyager was closest to it. But all the messages aside, your five hours is up. You know you wont survive this so you take the easy way out. In the end, you die and all that is left of you are memeories and a damaged skeleton on Mercury.
You go to the middle floor using a escape hatch located in the top of the dining hall. It is very quiet in this part of the ship, only the distant rumble of the engine can be heard. You take a moment to stop and reclaim your thoughts, you half expect the ship to be in orbit around Mars but if they were in orbit around Mars why would they use the escape pods to land? The other possiblity is that your in orbit around Earth and they shot the escape pods out to make a quick landing. This question keep hanging around in your mind and you have to know where you currently are.
While suiting up you notice that the date on the electronic calendar is 7/8/59 this means that you have been un-concious for 2 months, the ship could have gone miles in that time and you are uncertain were you are currently. The airlock un-preesurizes with a loud *zzt* and the door to the outside finally opens.
The sun is very large in the sky and the surface of Mercury is clearly visible. The massive sun makes the white paint on the Voyager look yellow. The sight is beautiful, but it doesnt make sense why you would be close to the inner solar system. But then you realise that the rioters must have turned the ship towards Earth and launched the escape pods. They must have overshot though and so now your here. After doing multiple surveys you have two main problems the radio is dead and the engine is malfuctioning. The radio is not that big of a deal to repair as you have the tool box with you but the engine is a bigger problem.
[[ Inspect the engine from outside of the ship ]]
[[ Inspect the engine from inside the ship ]]
Your closer to the engines while on the outside so why go back in? You make your way to the engines by hopping from one part of the station to the other. This becomes the highlight of your last day. You make your way to the engines re-teather yourself to the "manitience loop". While teathering yourself to the "maintence loop" you realise that the engines have been overloaded with power as they keep releasing large ammouts of energy into space. You climb down to the main thruster and see that there is a bit of exposed wire on the other side, this isn't a problem just have to cross the thruster... This is your last thought because as you are crossing the thuruster overloads and frys you.
You enter from the Navigation room hatch and take your suit off. You quickly make your way down to the engine room, you can hear obvious problems. Every 10 seconds the engines make a loud *Boom* sound. You finally arrive in the engine and man is it a mess there is damage all over the walls and floors. But most noticeable is the massive computer looking device attaced to the top of the engine. You go close to examine the device, the device lock the engines making the piliot un-able to adjust them. You detach the computer using the tools from the tool box.
[[ Head to the cockpit ]]
You join the rioters in their general un-organised battle. You join the front lines of figthing the security officers down a small hallway. You grab a make-shift spear tossed to you by a fellow rioter and jab one of them in the chest. Deep down you know you weren't built for fighting but the rush from that makes you more energentic and begin fighting with a set of precise jabs. They fight back, pulling out a tazer and shocking you. You are in immense pain. Your fellow rioters breach the cockpit behind you quickly begin steering the ship towards Earth. They pull an alarm and tell everyone to get to the escape pods. You think there going to activate the emergency thrusters, the kind that let the ship travel at dangerously high speeds for a litte while. They use these during take-off and you remember clearly that anyone outside of an accelartion seat would have massive damage done to their bodies. But you currently can't move because you are being tazed. Your attacker runs away with another hoard of people going to the lower levels. About a minute passes and you finally get enough strength to get back on your feet. Seconds after you begin walking a message spreads throughout the ship saying emergency thrusters activating in 5... You know what will happen to you if you aren't in one of those chairs and use all your remining strength to push your self to the escape pods. 4.. 3.. 2.. 1.. are the last things are hear before the emergency thrusters activate sending you barreling down the hallway into the canteen and later into the canteen wall, creating the same effect as fly hitting windsheild.
You make a dash to the lower levels of the ship, and alarm sounds, " emergency protocol get the the escape pods immediately"
The ship makes an un-expected turn knocking you against the wall. You quickly open the hatch to the lower levels just as the ship makes another sharp turn. Your head bangs against the hard wall and fall unconsious.
You re-awake some time later, in a pile of counsioning pile of laundry pushed up against the wall. You check the clock on the storage room wall, it reads 5:11 , were you really unconsious for five hours? You dont know what happend to the ship or where it is currently headed but you do know the upper levels of the ship are completely silent.
[[ Look for survivors ]]
